Teachers Teach, Students Learn Academy

New Teachers Teach, Students Learn Academy (NTTSLA)
Teachers Teach, Students Learn Academy (TTSLA)

ICL designed and continues to refine a model for coaching and supporting early career teachers. Teachers reflect on their practices in their designed teacher learning teams. Each teacher learning team also includes a coach. The model promotes the ICL developed Harvesting the Wins Coaching Model for schools, which is aligned to coaching principles and protocols developed by Quint Studer at the Studer Group®.

TTSLA ImageIn partnership with the Escambia county school district ICL staff wrote a grant that was funded for the 2006-2007 and 2007-2008 school year. The grant funded the efforts of 7 Florida school districts to develop a model for retaining early career teachers in high needs schools. The ICL model, New Teachers Teach, Students Learn Academy evolved as the teachers and their coaches began to working together in learning teams. In the 2008-2009 school year the Escambia County School District chose to continue funding the model and allowed all schools the opportunity to be a part of the Academy. So the New Teachers Teach, Students Learn Academy became the Teachers Teach, Students learn Academy, as veteran teachers became members of the academy.

The Academy has specific student, teacher, and parent goals that are used to measure the success of the academy.
